Being located in the middle of North Devon, Barnstaple has much to offer. Laying on the edge of Exmoor National Park a former ancient royal hunting forest and its Jurassic heritage coast, make it an extremely popular attraction for visitors and an desirable place to live. Some of Devon’s prettiest settlements are dotted around the area and Barnstaple makes a good base for exploring these.
It is also the shopping capital of the region with a mix of cutting-edge retail outlets, long-established family owned stores, little unique boutiques and in the pannier market plenty of local food producers. Transport links are sufficient. There are hourly trains on the Tarka Line to Exeter (66-82 mins). By car it takes just 15-20 mins to the beaches and Exmoor, 45 mins to the M5, an hour to Taunton and just over an hour to Exeter.
