Why Move to Belfast
Belfast was awarded city status a long time ago in 1888. A compact city, with a very rich and interesting history, Belfast is located on the banks of the River Lagan on the east cost of the island of Ireland. It is the capital and largest city in Northern Ireland.

Schools & Education
The education in Belfast is another one of the things that makes the city such a great place to live, especially if you have or are planning to have a family.
Although integrated education is increasing, Northern Ireland still operates a highly segregated education system and offers schooling for both protestant and catholic children.
Unlike most areas of the United Kingdom, in the last year of primary school, many children take entrance examinations for grammar schools. There are plenty of schools to choose from including primary, secondary, grammar and private education facilities.
The universities are where the Belfast education sector really comes into its own. Home to two universities: Ulster University, and Queens University. Queens University has become highly respected throughout the UK and ranks highly on the score tables. It even attracts students globally, which is testament to its success.
Things to do in Belfast
Being so compact makes exploring the city easy. Almost everything is within walking distance. Bursting with culture there is an abundance of museums, theatres, and not to mention the Northern Irish parliament buildings which are a spectacle to look at in themselves.
One of the top attractions is the Titanic museum. With nine galleries to explore telling the story of RMS Titanic, from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end. Much of the museum is interactive with many features including diving to the depth of the ocean to explore where RMS Titanic now rests.
Belfast holds a range of festivals and events all year round such as the Titanic Maritime Festival, the Sounds of Belfast, the Belfast Pride Parade, or the annual Festival of light at Mount Stewart.
A variety of public parks give residents the chance to exercise, walk and cycle and are great places to take children to burn off extra energy. One of the most popular green spaces is the Botanic Gardens which occupies 28 acres. A restful oasis to the south of the city, featuring a children’s playground, beautiful walks and a bowling green.
Botanic Gardens is often used for events, such as band recitals, concerts and opera performances.
Investment in Belfast’s riverside has created a new and stunning waterfront area, complete with vibrant bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and contemporary apartment blocks.
Outside the city, are beaches, day trips to nearby castles, Bushmills Distillery, and the Giant’s Causeway.
