Schools & Education
As outlines above Chester has a thriving Higher Education sector with the local university enrolling around 20,000 students and has an excellent post graduate employment rate (95.2%).

The city has a range of infant, junior and high schools with the Queens School and Christleton High School having been rated as very good with a high standard of education.
The King’s School was established in 1541, is the oldest independent school in Chester and enjoys an enviable reputation locally.
Living in Chester
Chester is a hotbed of activity with numerous pubs, nightclubs and bars and restaurants lining the streets, some of which are based in medieval buildings with the oldest pub in Chester dating back to 1643.
There is a thriving live music scene owing to the many students in the region. Local and more well-known bands play across the city throughout the week at venues like Telford’s Warehouse and The Live Rooms.

Working in Chester
Chester has a thriving economy predominately centred around the service industries which consist of tourism, retail and public administration.
Many financial services firms have bases in the town, including the Bank of America, MBNA, NFU Mutual, HBOS pl and Virgin Money among others.
Other large employers in the area include the aeroplane manufacturing firm Airbus UK which employs over 6,000 staff and Iceland which has its headquarters in Deeside, not far from the city centre.
Education is also a larger employer in the town and Chester University contributes approximately £135 million to the local economy alone.
The University has over 2000 members of staff and a large number of its students live in Chester with graduates staying on after their studies.
Property Prices in Chester
Chester boasts some pretty Georgian town houses, cottages and Victorian terraces in and around the city centre and a selection of Edwardian/20s semis in suburban locations such as Marlston Avenue.
