Why move to Enfield?

On the edges of the Hertfordshire countryside, Enfield is London’s most northerly borough. Although it was formed in 1965, there is evidence of inhabitants dating back to prehistoric times with the Roman road from London to York passing through what is now known as Enfield Town.

Despite being 10 miles north-east of Charing Cross, Enfield boasts an array of great transport connections in to Central London, making it a great choice for commuters. The borough is served by no less than four underground stations via the Piccadilly line and Enfield Town has a National Rail station which runs regular services to London Liverpool Street in just 30 minutes.

Employment opportunities in Enfield have shifted over the last four decades, with growth in service-based sectors and a decline in manufacturing. The borough benefits from being 30 minutes away from North London which a significant proportion of residents use to get to work.

Currently, health and social work is one of the largest sectors in Enfield. Two of the largest hospitals in the area are North Middlesex Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital which employ large numbers of doctors, nurses and medical specialists, as well as a range of support services.

There are also some major companies based in Enfield, including well-known retailers such as Asda, Tesco, John Lewis and Ikea which are major employers in the areas of customer service and management.

Schools & Education

Dame Alice Owen’s School in nearby Potters Bar, also produces excellent exam results and is judged to eb ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
