Halstead is an attractive Essex town in the Colne Valley which maintains close links with Colchester and Sudbury.
The town developed from pre-historic origins and a Roman settlement that included a villa complex to become a mainstay of the wool and weaving industry.
Flash forward to the present, and the town’s reputation as a marketplace is still very much in tact with lots of locals flocking to the town for its regular street markets and wealth of pubs and restaurants.

Halstead Antiques Centre is a beautiful antiques centre housed in an 18th century silk mill and attracts many visitors each year. Packed with all types of antiques and collectables, provided by 80 dealers and spread over two floors it is a great place to grab a bargain.
Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum is an enjoyable day out for all the family. It combines beautiful formal lakeside gardens and a stunning Arboretum with miles of leafy woodland walks to explore and enjoy.

The town of Halstead itself has various schooling options when considering its relative size.
There are three primary schools; Holy Trinity, St Andrew’s, and Richard de Clare and one secondary school called The Ramsey Academy (formerly Ramsey secondary school), which is located to the north of the town centre.
Many other secondary schools are within easy travelling distance with lots of parents sending their children to either nearby Sible Hedingham, Braintree or Colchester.
Halstead also caters for children with special needs via the Yellow House School which is an independent school situated in Sible Hedingham.
