Local Leisure Activities & Removals Isle of Man
Situated in the centre of the British Isles, the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom and is instead an internally self-governing dependent territory of the Crown. It covers over 227 square miles and with 100 miles of dramatic coastline. The island offers stunning rural scenery and a safe family environment. It has a population of around 85,000, a diverse economy and is known for its low taxes.
You will find that there is plenty to do in your leisure time. Take a trip on the old Steam Railway which runs from Douglas to the south of the Island. There are many hiking trails to enjoy. The beautiful countryside is very diverse, beautiful hills, lush glens, rolling countryside, rugged cliffs and hidden coves.
The Island’s beaches encompass the best of both worlds. On the northwest coast, there are remote, sandy strands stretching for miles, where you may wander for hours and not see a soul. If you prefer something a little less isolated, Peel and Laxey are busier beaches and offer a little more, such as cafes, restaurants and shops.
A visit to Moore’s Traditional Museum in Peel is an interesting experience. Here you can watch the workers process the fish and learn how Manx kippers have been cured over oak chips, since around 1770. At the end of the visit, you can purchase some of the delicious fish.
