Why Move to Penzance
The Cornish town of Penzance is both a port and a market town with an interesting history. Occupied by humans as far back as the prehistoric period, its stone streets and pretty period properties create a wonderful charm and atmosphere.
King Henry IV granted the town a royal market in 1404. Later in 1814 a small dry dock was opened at the town’s recently extended pier. In a short space of time, steamships were docking in increasing numbers.
The railway eventually opened on 11 March 1852 extending access to other UK regions. The trains were able to carry fresh produce to distant markets such as Bristol, London and Manchester enabling local farmers and fishermen to sell more produce and at better prices.
It is the most westerly major town in Cornwall and is about 64 miles from Plymouth and nestles on the sweeping Mount’s Bay.

Currently, the town thrives on a mixed economy, with tourism jobs and roles in the light industry being the main source of employment. Service sector jobs in Penzance are generated by financial, legal, IT, design, and architecture firms.
Schools & Education
Education provision in the town is considered very good.

Things to do in Penzance
There is an abundance of interesting things to see and do in Cornwall.
Its beaches are a haven for dedicated surfers, and they come from all over the country to catch the waves in the local bays.
All manner of water sports can be enjoyed, from kayaking to diving in the clear clean sea water. A swim in the famous art deco outdoor swimming pool is a must.
Penzance holds a number of festivals each year, the most important being Golowan in June. A major arts and culture festival which attracts thousands each year.
Montol festival is held in December and features street entertainers, fancy dress, and street food it is also well attended.
Penlee House is West Cornwall’s centre for Art and Heritage, home to the collections of Penzance Town Council, Penwith District Council and Newlyn Art Gallery.

You will find that property is generally much more reasonably priced here compared to north coast property hotspots such as Rock, Newquay or Padstow with an average value of £276,591.
