Situated in East London, Havering, Romford was once a small market town established in 1247. Now it’s a significant commercial centre. In 1247, Romford was located on the main road to London, where the regionally significant Romford Market still runs to this day.
The original site of the town was to the south, in an area still known as Oldchurch. Due to frequent flooding of the River Rom, it moved to its present site in the late 15th Century.
