Why Move to Swindon?
Historically it was just an assortment of a few homes until the Saxons settled in the area due to its defensible position atop a limestone hill. Since the 1840s, the railway has been a central pillar of Swindon´s growth. The 1952 Town Development Act further added to its growth and Swindon has been expanding ever since.
Today, millions of pounds are being invested on several large regeneration projects including the Carriage Works development in the town centre. The plan aims to turn the area into a central hub for technology companies and small creative industries. New homes and the renovation of Queens Road will create new jobs and ensure economic growth for Swindon for many years to come.
Swindon is not just a place of work. Many people choose to live in the town because of the quality of their lifestyle.
The Borough of Swindon is not only the town of Swindon itself, but it also encompasses many charming villages and historic market towns. Sandwiched between the splendid Cotswold Hills to the north and the rolling Marlborough Downs to the south, residents have a choice of town or rural living.

Swindon Schools & Education
Those who are moving to the area with children will want to ensure they have access to a good school and Swindon has a good reputation concerning education provision.

Independent education is provided by The Commonweal School and St Joseph´s Catholic College, the only local catholic option, along with Maranatha Christian School, which is also independent.
The town has one university; the Oxford Brookes University has had a campus in Swindon since 1999. The campus offers degrees in Adult Nursing and Operating Department Practice (ODP).
