Things to do in Thurrock
Thurrock offers over 18 miles of riverfront. 70% of its land is defined as Green Belt, which is home to nature reserves, heritage locations and sites of particular scientific interest.
The Lakeside Shopping Centre has become the premier retail and leisure destination in the South East, home to a host of well-known brands and restaurants. Already a popular place to visit, now it boasts a new extension. Focused around a new public square, this extension to the current leisure provision will provide approximately 17,000m² of extra space for, leisure, fitness and entertainment facilities.
If you enjoy history, pay a visit to the Thurrock Museum, which houses more than 250,000 years of local history in display cases with more than 1,500 objects. Tilbury Fort is also well worth investigating. Owned by the National Heritage Trust and established by Henry VIII. It was from here that Queen Elizabeth I famously rallied her army to face the threat of the Armada.
