White & Company Provides Horsepower For This Year’s BAR Conference
A horse-drawn removals vehicle dating back over 130 years will be provided by White & Company as part of the vehicle parade taking place at the annual British Association of Removers (BAR) conference.
The three-day conference will take place next week (23-25 May) at the Crowne Plaza in the historic town of Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birthplace of England’s most famous playwright, William Shakespeare.
Set against the thriving backdrop of the River Avon, decorated with its many historic houses and theatres, the conference will see the biggest names in the removals sector get together to share best practice and their wealth of industry knowledge.
There will be keynote addresses from a range of influential speakers on important topics such as cyber security, as well as some light relief provided by the comedian Zoe Lyons whose TV appearances include Live at the Apollo and Mock the Week, among others.
The event will conclude with a Gala Dinner, where the hotly anticipated BAR Domestic, Commercial and Overseas Mover of the Year awards will be revealed.
Vehicle Parade Through Stratford
A vehicle parade through the centre of Stratford-Upon-Avon will take place on the evening of Saturday 25 May and will showcase the best operational delivery models of past and present.
White & Company will provide a horse drawn pantechnicon which will be one of the oldest vehicles on display having been built and kept in possession of the company since 1890.
The technical design was specifically constructed so that it could be hauled on railways under Victorian bridges.
The van’s ability to haul large items of furniture across long distance was an impressive feat at the time with capacity to carry around 600 cubic feet in volume.
Using one of these vehicles, the original journey from Bournemouth to London took over three days to complete!
Thankfully our fleet of vehicles take just a fraction of that time now, but it’s preservation and continued appreciation is nevertheless an important part of the company’s rolling history.
