Why Move to Kent
Kent, coined the “garden of England”, sits in South East England and is one of the home counties (counties which surround London). It is Kent’s proximity to both London as well as the coast which makes it a highly desirable place to relocate to when escaping the capital city.
Incredibly accessible, Kent has some excellent road and rail links with only the very furthest coastal and most remote areas being ‘no-go’ for the daily commuter.
The county also shares borders with Essex along the estuary of the River Thames, connected by land via the High Speed 1 railway and the Dartford Crossing, and with the French region of Pas-de-Calais through the Channel Tunnel.
Large parts of Kent are within the London commuter belt, it is these strong transport connections to the capital and the nearby continent which make Kent a high-income county. Kent’s busy economy is greatly diversified with haulage, logistics, and tourism all major industries.
A large portion of the county forms part of two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The North Downs and The High Weald. These beautiful areas provide perfect conditions for a range of outdoor pursuits. Many people travel from all over the country to visit and holiday in the region because of this natural beauty and rich history.
Living in Kent means that you can experience a range of charming villages, beautiful countryside and outstanding schools as well as a host restaurants, shopping and social facilities that you might not have expected to find outside the metropolis of London.
Schools & Education
It is safe to say that education standards in Kent are excellent as is the choice of schooling. Kent County Council has the largest education department of any local council in Britain, providing school places for almost 300,000 pupils.
Although much of Britain adopted a comprehensive education system in the 1970s, Kent County Council (KCC) and Medway Unitary Authority are among around fifteen local authorities still providing wholly selective education through the eleven-plus examination with students allocated a place at a secondary modern school or at a grammar school.
As well as a huge number of primaries, Kent County Council Local Education Authority also maintains 96 secondary schools, of which 33 are selective schools and 63 are secondary modern schools.
Home to four great universities; Canterbury Christ Church University, University of Kent, University of Greenwich (a London University) and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

Things to do in Kent
There is always something to do in Kent all year round. Home to two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the county offers the chance to enjoy plenty of walks, in fact it boasts more than a couple of thousand miles of walkways via both woodland and beach areas.
The County also has a rich history, with sites scattered across the region including; Hever Castle and Gardens, Walmer Castle and Gardens, Maidstone Museum and Bentlif Art Gallery and the Secret Gardens of Sandwich.
There is a whole host of fantastic and fascinating villages and towns to explore in Kent. Some of the most visited are Canterbury, Sevenoaks, Deal and Tunbridge Wells. Each of which has something different to offer.
As well as having access to amazing countryside, Kent also has all the benefits of being situated on the coast. The iconic white cliffs of Dover offer breath-taking scenery; the Isle of Thanet (which includes Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate) offers family-friendly sandy beaches and Herne Bay, near Canterbury, has extensive opportunities for those wishing to try their hand at sailing as well as dining on fresh sea food.
