    How It Works

Typically, belongings destined for Spain are transported either by road or sea freight. We provide flexible solutions tailored to various requirements and budgets. To accommodate everyone, we present customers with two different options when moving goods to Spain:

    Part Load

This option is ideal if you do not intend to transport an entire household of goods. Your belongings will be transferred to Spain inside a shared high-capacity truck, so you’ll only be charged for the space used. Part-loads are perfect for customers relocating to Spain with a limited number of items, making it a suitable choice for those who only need to transfer a few essentials.

    Full Load

If you intend to pack up and move your entire household of goods to Spain, then we recommend you choose our full-load option. You’ll be charged for the cost of the entire trailer, meaning you can fill it as much as required, giving you maximum flexibility.

Our packing team in the UK will wrap and box up your goods to be transported in our specialist removals trucks to our UK depot. They will then head off to the port to be either loaded onto a shipping container or transferred via road. This option is more expensive than our part-load option, but shipping and delivery times are much quicker.

How Long Do Removals to Spain Take?

The average time for removals to Spain from the UK will vary depending on whether you have opted for a full or part-load service.

As part load services are taken as separate consignments, it may take longer for all your items to arrive but generally transit times are anywhere between 7-14 days.

What Happens Once My Goods Arrive?

Your assigned account manager will send all paperwork to our team in Spain. Once your goods arrive, they will forward the relevant forms to you and assist with customs clearance. When your belongings have cleared customs, you will be contacted to discuss a convenient time to deliver them if not already agreed.

Like any overseas country, there are times where things can get lost in translation. Our local experts are ready to help with any customs or bureaucracy that may be confusing or misunderstood. Insurance for Removals to Spain

Despite our best efforts, items can get damaged, move in transit, or go missing from time to time, all of which are outside of our control.

Our team of professional movers always try to minimise such problems during the move and we offer limited liability insurance as is set out in our terms and conditions for BAR members.

However, it is highly recommended that you consider our Marine insurance when shipping a large consignment of items overseas. We recommend you protect your possessions while in transit and storage with our ‘All Risk’ Marine Standard Liability cover.

Marine insurance cover is offered to you on receipt of a completed ‘Overseas Valuation Form’. Such insurance cover is fully comprehensive and ‘All Risk’, and is based on the total value declared by you on your application.

There are three types of visa that permit residence in Spain: the combined work permit and residence visa, the student visa, and the visa for family reunification or retirement. Commencing November 2023, it is anticipated that British citizens will be required to acquire an ETIAS travel authorisation for a similar duration of stay in Spain. However, Spain is actively lobbying the EU parliament to scrap the 90 day rule for British citizens, so this could be about to change.

Since 2021, British citizens planning to live in Spain for more than 3 months must obtain a standard residence permit. While they have the option to apply for a tourist visa, granting a maximum stay of 90 days every 6 months, a regular residence permit is required for longer durations.

These designated entry points primarily include international airports in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Tenerife Sur, and Málaga. If opting for sea transport, permissible entry points are the ports in Algeciras, Almeria, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Additionally, you are required to declare the presence of your pet to the Guardia Civil Tax Department.
